Title: Bumblebee bat
Contact:
Laurie O'Keefe
Description:
The Bumblebee bat, or Kitti's Hog-nosed Bat is the world's smallest species of bat. It competes with the Etruscan Pygmy Shrew as the world's smallest mammal. To appreciate the scale of this animal that weighs less than a dime, the image of the animal is shown resting on a human thumb. Native to western Thailand, it's name is derived from the comparative size it shares with the bumblebee insect.
