Cupplant (Silphium perfoliatum) flowers are favored nectar sources for Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies (Papilio glaucus), which appear to be very enthusiastic about them and are important pollinators. Cupplants are listed as a Threatened species in Michigan, but are banned in Connecticut as potentially invasive.
